If a parcel arrives damaged, with the wrong product or with something missing, an unboxing video is the clearest proof you can give. At IndiasBuy, a continuous unboxing video that starts from the first cut of the sealed shipping package is required for damaged, wrong or missing-item claims. Here is how to record one properly.
Before you open the parcel
- Keep the parcel sealed until you are ready to record. You can follow its progress with the tracking link we send after dispatch, or on our Track Your Order page.
- Charge your phone and make sure it has enough free storage for several minutes of video.
- Choose a clear table in good light, and keep scissors or a cutter within reach so you don't need to stop recording.
- Turn on Do Not Disturb, as an incoming call can interrupt the recording on some phones.
Recording the video
- Start recording before you touch the seal.
- Show the sealed parcel from all sides, including a clear close-up of the shipping label with the order details and AWB number.
- Show the tape and seals, and any dents, tears or other damage to the outer packaging.
- Make the first cut on camera, keeping the parcel and your hands in the frame.
- Take out each item slowly: the product box, the product, the accessories and any paperwork in the parcel.
- Show the product from all sides, along with any model or serial number label on the box.
- If something is wrong, damaged or missing, show it clearly, such as a crack, an empty slot or the wrong model name.
- Keep recording until everything has been taken out and shown, then stop.
Record every unboxing, even when the parcel looks fine. You won't know in advance whether you will need the video.
Mistakes that can weaken a claim
- Starting the video after the parcel has already been opened.
- Pausing, cutting, editing or joining clips. The video must be continuous.
- Letting the parcel or your hands go out of frame.
- Poor light or a blurry shipping label.
- Throwing away the packaging or accessories before your claim is settled.

If the video file is too large
Large videos may not go through on email or WhatsApp. Don't trim or edit the video to make it smaller; contact us instead and ask how to share it.
Quick answers
Is an unboxing video needed for every claim?
It is required for damaged, wrong or missing-item claims. For other eligible cases, such as a product that doesn't work, share photo/video proof of the issue with your order number and the reason. Recording every unboxing is still the safest habit.
What if the parcel looks damaged when it arrives?
Record the parcel from all sides before opening it, carry on with the unboxing video as usual, and contact us within 7 days from delivery.
Can I record the video on any phone?
Yes. Any phone camera works, as long as the video is clear and continuous and shows the label, the first cut and the contents.
